From the collection: Where Memory and Meaning Meet
The Color of Waiting is the most personal work within this collection — a painting born from the experience of facing suffering, uncertainty, and the prognosis of blindness
The figure is surrounded by vivid blues, reds, golds, and fractured squares, as if vision, memory, fear, prayer, and hope are all moving at once. Her gaze carries the tension of waiting: the desire to surrender, the ache for answers, and the quiet courage required when the future is no longer clear
This work is not only about physical sight. It is about the inner life that continues when sight becomes fragile. Through layered color, texture, and symbolic marks, the painting reflects the emotional weight of healing — impatience, endurance, vulnerability, and the search for meaning inside suffering
As part of Where Memory and Meaning Meet, this piece brings the collection from historical remembrance into personal testimony. It asks what color waiting becomes when the heart is afraid, but still reaching toward light
